Aping the sangh parivar

via HK Correspondent published on August 2, 2006

It’s now a fashion. It didn’t start in one day but has been going on for a few years now.

Recently upon reading an article that mentioned a Christain group in Kerala conducted  Gurudakshina programme that was inaugurated by a Communist minister brought smiles. Again two days back the Kairali channel showed a communist based organisation in the Gulf conducting a Gurudakshina programme.

Everyone likes to criticize the RSS and its functions. They like to ridicule them as knicker wallahs and following a high caste brahmanical trend. But they all love to copy cat the RSS style of working.

When the RSS Vijayadashmi route marches became popular in Kerala, the DYFI also started its Red Brigade marches with red shirt and khaki pants, though their plans to copy cat the shakha training failed miserably. The christian community and the Muslim league has also created miserable copies of the sangh style disciplined cadre but have failed to keep up. Because discipline is something that cannot be enforced and that too in  a political party. The sangh swayamsevaks understand the need for discipline and it is created in the shakhas rather than being enforced on them.

The Guru dakshina is done by sangh swayamsevaks with a deep inspiration to the sangh ideology and completely understanding the need for this money for the next one year of the organisation’s functioning.

Gurudakshina cannot be compared to the Communist bucket collection or cinematic dance programmes where the organizers make money. Unlike any other organisation, RSS is the only  organisation where as you grow with responsibility you take on a whole lot of dedication and hard work. But for  other organisations growing with power only means making more money.

Grow with your ideology rather than copying other organisations and failing miserably.
