Andhra ABVP’s successful agitation against 5% reservation to Muslims

The Cong(I) Govt. in AP has announced a 5% Reservation to Muslims in jobs and education. The purpose of this unilateral decision is to appease the Muslim community with eye on the forth coming assembly elections in Maharastra . Some of the backward Muslims are already comes under BC category and enjoying the reservtion fecility for the past two decades.The latest act is aimed at pleasing the community rather than to serve the community.








ABVP Andhra unit opposed this illegal move and reacted spontaneously.. ABVP demanded withdrawal of the 5% quota. The state unit has launched a 3 phase state wide agitation against this move. On July 13, colleges were boycotted and gate meetings were held in more than 200 places throught the state. On 20 th July mass Dharnas , effigy burning, rastarokos were held in all Dist Headquqrters.On 29th July, a March to Assembly was organized at which around 8000 students participated .


There was a lathicharge on demonstrators. Around 450 activists including state leaders were arrested . A delegation met the Hon. Speaker of Assembly and submitted the Memorandum .Lakhs of Pham plates distributed to educate the student community. Meanwhile, Parishad has launched Legal fight also..

The AP High Court after hearing the petitions quashed the Govt . Order. This is a biggest success for Parishad which was the first organization to raise the voice against this discriminatory G.O
