Afzal’s ‘CURATIVE’ Petition-More to it than meets the eye

via B.R.HARAN published on October 21, 2006

This is with reference to the sudden decision of the dreaded terrorist Mohammed Afzal to file a ‘curative’ petition for the review of the death penalty awarded to him by the Supreme Court in the parliament attack case.

It is really strange & surprising that a man, who did not show even an iota of remorse so far, who refused to file a clemency petition earlier, has all of a sudden opted to file a ‘curative’ petition, especially at a time when the UPA government is dilly dallying without sending its recommendations to the President’s office and when the Prime Minister & UPA Chair person are deliberately keeping silence on this nationally important issue.

It is also reported that, if the curative petition also ends up with the same fate as that of his appeals, Afzal himself will submit a clemency petition. This move looks like a planned strategy. It seems to be a ploy of the UPA government in connivance with the Left, Kashmiri politicians & other pseudo secularists to delay the judicial process till the time of UP state elections & also till the time of completion of Dr. Kalam’s term.

This shows how serious this government is in matters of terrorism & national security. The policies of ‘minority appeasement’ & ‘vote bank politics’ have made this government vulnerable to terror followed by threat & blackmail and ultimately yielding to all.

It is a national shame that this government has created many a number of embarrassing situations to a righteous person like Dr. Kalam.  We can be rest assured that, once the new President takes office, Afzal will be pardoned & his sentence will be commuted.

The opposition BJP, RSS, VHP & other right wing Hindu organizations should not allow such a thing to happen and they should see to it that Afzal is hanged even if it’s delayed. One hopes that the law of the land will ultimately prevail.
