Afzal’s brother insist on Death Penalty

via HK published on December 2, 2006

New Delhi: Afzal Guru, Who is awaiting to be hanged for his role in the parliament attack case is a member of the terorrist group Jaish-e-mohd. This was revealed by his elder brother Ijaz. It comes at a time when the secularists are shouting at the roof-tops for Afzal to be given clemency.

Ijaz while giving an interview in popular TV channel, said that the supreme court’s decision is right. Ijaz has also denied the fact that Afzal had surrendered himself. Ijaz said that it was he who presented Afzal’s weapons to the special task force and nobody knows these facts. It is highly suspicious why Ijaz was not presented as a witness in any court during the trial. This revelation of Ijaz confirms the fact that the truth in the parliament attack has not come to the scrutiny of the public.

It was in 2000 after coming out of jail for another charge, Afzal became a conspirator in the parliament attack. He was the right-hand man of the leader of the Jaish-e-mohd, Gazi Baba.

The TV channel had also revealed that Afzal’s younger brother Hilal was also arrested. Even this fact was hidden and the court was not aware of  this. The supreme court has declared Afzal as a surrendered terorrist. But the J&K special task force said that Afzal did not surrender himself. This information was not utilised by the prosecution against Afzal during the trial. Both Afzal and police deliberately hid these facts from the court. Even as early as 2000 the J&K special task force had found out that Afzal was a Jaish-e-mohd member. Even the higher authorities did not revealed this fact in the court during the trial. It was because of this reason the Supreme Court in its verdict concluded that Afzal was not a terorrist.

Mohd the terorrist who was killed during the parliament attack was introduced to Afzal by another jaish-e-mohd terorrist called Tariq. Now Tariq’s case being supressed. The revealation made by Ijaz has come as big blow to those who are protesting against Afzal’s death sentence.
