After human body, Ramdev plans to cleanse politics

India’s high profile ‘online’ yoga guru Baba Ramdev has set a new goal: To cleanse Indian politics by 2014. He has a simple formula to achieve that target — mobilise millions of conscientious youth — the most potential segment of electorate — to elect ‘good candidates’ in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Baba Ramdev, who was here to participate in the 175th anniversary celebrations of the Assam Rifles in Shillong, said the country’s political system had become synonymous with corruption, which was threatening the existence and sovereignty of the country.

Baba said that in the coming years, his organisation — Yoga Samiti volunteers — would fan out from the whole country to imbibe in youth the spirit of ‘Bharat Swabhiman’ — the self-esteem of nation.

Citing the old saying that healthy body possess healthy mind, Baba Ramdev said Yoga was the ultimate tool for building a healthy body — free of disease and stress, and intelligent mind.

He said under the Bharat Swabhiman initiative at least 1,000 members would be enrolled in Yoga camps per day in each district of India, which means, he summed up: “In 30 days, the Swabhiman will have around 30,000 members, and over the year its number will run into lakhs.”
