ABVP urges Indian government to ensure safety of Tamils

published on March 30, 2013

Considering plight of Tamils in Sri Lanka Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) National General Secretary Shri Umesh Dutt urged Government of India to take all the necessary steps to ensure proper rehabilitation, security and political rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

In fact Bharat is having ancient mythological and present day good political cordial relations with Sri Lanka. ABVP demands that attacks on Tamil Nadu fisherman community should be stopped with immediate effect. We are also of the opinion that no government with self respect of any country will sit idle when its citizens are attacked by another country. ABVP appeals both the government to sit together and solve this problem amicably which will consolidate our mutual friendly relations.

An atmosphere should be created in Sri Lanka where Tamil speaking people can live respectfully and without fear. Sri Lankan government should proactively take steps to alleviate the sufferings of their Tamils and also ensure their safety. It is our considered opinion that lasting peace will return to Sri Lanka only when its government sincerely and amply addresses the grievances of the Tamils of the North and Eastern part as well as those refugees living in India.

Then also if Sri Lankan government doesn’t took any steps ABVP is of the opinion that Indian government should ensure by further measures that they take necessary steps for betterment of Tamil community.
