Modi asked the Prime Minister to request the nation to observe a weekly fast in order to tide over the prevailing price rise and food shortage.

 

“It is our biggest misfortune that there is no political will at the central level to give us any leadership and direction. In a similar situation years ago when the nation had passed through a food scarcity, the then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri had appealed for a weekly fast and got people’s support. Can’t the PM make a similar appeal now?” he asked.
