India failed to resolve Nepal crisis

The BJP President, Mr Rajnath Singh said in Lucknow on Friday that India failed to initiate action to resolve the crisis in Nepal in time and efforts should have been taken long ago.

The Prime Minister had sent his special envoy Dr Karan Singh now only and he had returned from Kathmandu yesterday.”New Delhi should concentrate on three things vis-a-vis Nepal. India should try to bring back democracy, ensure peace and stability and ensure the Maoist rebels do not emerge as a stronger force,” he said. 

He said that it was in the interest of India that the maoists did not emerge stronger in the present crisis. “With information about their links with ISI being received, we should ensure only democratic forces win in Nepal,” he pointed out. 

Meanwhile, Dr Karan Singh was quoted as saying that he had handed over a letter from PM to the Nepal King. He conveyed India’s deep concern over hardships being faced by the people. 
“We told the King we are deeply concerned about difficulties, political and economic, that the people are facing and the general breakdown of law and order…The ball is in his (the King’s) court 
now,” a report quoting Dr Singh said.
