Malaysian Mullahs claim ‘Patent’ for the word ‘Allah’

via HK published on January 10, 2008

Think twice before you say Allah and other words connected with the Koran. This is the new edict out in Malasiya by fanatic mullahs.

The government says that certain Arabic words like ‘ Allah’ cannot be used by the literature and speeches of non-Muslim religions.

Other words like ‘Kaabah’ have also been included in this list. Other religious leaders have condemned this rule as many Arabic words have found their way into the local dialect and these words are used frequently in different context. Also this is seen as a serious infringement in the freedom of speech as this law can be misused to harass all kind of literature using these words.

“We cannot allow this use of ‘Allah’ in non-Muslim publications; nobody except Muslims (can use it). The word ‘Allah’ is published by the Catholics. It’s not right,” says Johauri Baharum, minister.

Sikhs use the ‘Allah’ word to refer to god. Allah and Rahim are frequently used in the gurudwara and its used in their holy scripture even.

The religious stamp of extremism has been recently showing it evil head in the last few months. November saw a brutal crackdown on the Hindu community protesting racial
segregation and demolition of Hindu temples.

As per the Malaysian constitution the citizens can follow their own religion and language. The Christians have already filed a case against the government for interfering in their religious right by banning books that contain the ‘Allah’ word.

The Muslims who cry foul in India when anti-conversion bills are passed have nothing to say about the law in Malaysia that does not allow Malaysian Muslims to convert. The moves are seen as an appeasement policy being followed by the government to keep the extremist Muslims happy.
