A Chance to
Volunteer in India , the
Caribbean and the US

Yuva for Sewa (Youth for Service) is a fellowship
program that provides young adults with opportunities to use their time and
talent to volunteer for the less fortunate across the globe.

Yuva for Sewa was initiated in 2006 by Sewa
International USA, a non-profit service organization that runs many community
service projects around the world. The program was very successful and has since
continued on an annual basis. Last year, 8 college students from the US and
UK spent their
summers as Yuva for Sewa fellows.

This year, Yuva for Sewa will be connecting youth with
service projects in India , the
Caribbean, and the US . Anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 with a strong
desire to serve the underprivileged is invited to apply for the fellowship.
Projects are available in the following fields:

education, self-employment, women empowerment,
healthcare, publicity and awareness, and environmental care. The projects

range from a few weeks to six months in
duration and occur between the months of June and December.

Aside from the satisfaction of serving the less
fortunate, Yuva for Sewa fellows gain tremendous experience and knowledge
through their time volunteering. Sarah Elswik, an anthropology student at
Cleveland State University , shared her experience volunteering at a village in
India : ‘This
field visit provided the opportunity to see, smell, taste, hear and learn first
hand what tribal life is about. I thought it was a chance of a life
time.’
