Seat of Shivism!

The communalisation and politicisation of the Sacred Amarnath Yathra by the Muslim separatists and fundamentalists has reached dangerous proportions, in which, the so-called secular mainstream political parties and their leaders have started talking about a new concept called ‘Kashmiri Nationalism’.

.

The word ‘Kashmiriyat’, which has been doing the rounds as an expression of communal amity has gone down the drain and the latest expression is about ‘Kashmiri Nationalism’.

This is an implicit indication that Kashmir has got nothing to do with Indian nationalism and Hindus and that it is slowly becoming a land of (and for and by) Muslims.

While the hostile neighbour Pakistan addresses the Kashmiri terrorists as ‘freedom fighters’, the Kashmiri leaders launch the concept of ‘Kashmiri Nationalism’, thereby precisely exposing the unholy nexus between them!

It may be recalled that Indian Parliament had passed a unanimous resolution that Kashmir is an integral part of India and this forms the basis of India’s talks with its hostile neighbour Pakistan.

But a close study of the leaders of the political parties in Kashmir and the Congress party seem to suggest that the separatist and fundamentalist elements may end isolating Kashmir from the Indian mainstream.

When the Supreme Court awarded capital punishment to the JeM terrorist and mastermind of the parliament attack Mohammed Afzal Guru, Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad said that Kashmir would face violent protests and recommended clemency for Afzal Guru.

The National Conference leader Farook Abdulla has said that the nation would go up in flames if Afzal is hanged and threatened that the judges concerned would even be attacked for giving such a verdict.

Omar Abdulla recently said that the Indian Army had violated human rights in the valley and Farook went a step ahead and said that he regrets the accession of Kashmir to India and that he couldn’t stand by the Indian Army.

Omar very recently confessed in his website that the Kashmiri Muslims connived with the terrorists in driving out the Hindu Pandits from the valley during the nineties.

What about PDP’s Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and his daughter Mehabooba? They consistently followed separatist policies even during their first three years of regime.

They have been talking about demilitarisation, unsealing of borders for free movement, autonomy of governance along with the POK, allowing Pakistani currency and all such claptrap.

Then the ever-hostile Hurriyat Conference has always been sticking to anti-India policies without respecting the various measures being taken by the Central government in resolving the decades old Kashmir issue.

They even conduct public meetings, where in, one can find Pakistani flags fluttering and hear pro Pakistan slogans.

The fact of the matter is, all these leaders, irrespective of party affiliation, have come together against the spirit of the Indian Constitution, making use of the religious fanaticism and whipping up communal passion.

The recent controversy circling around the allotment of land to Amarnath Shrine Board has come in handy for them to establish their agenda.

In one voice, they have said that the allotment of land was aimed at changing the demography of Kashmir by arranging settlements for Hindus there.

One wonders what sort of settlement could happen at such an altitude where it would be snowing for nine months in a year! After igniting the communal frenzy, the Kashmiri leaders have waxed eloquent on the adverse impact ‘likely’ to be caused by the temporary settlements on the so-called environment surrounding a small portion of 90 acres of land.

The Central government has deliberately played its role by helping the cause of the separatists. It handpicked a pliable person and appointed him as the Governor, who acted as per the instructions, which has almost resulted in the abolition of the Shrine Board itself.

All the Kashmiri leaders have trumpeted the withdrawal of the order of allotment of land as a ‘victory’ for ‘Kashmir nationalsim’, while the miniscule Jammu has started burning under genuine protests due to helplessness and defeat at the hands of communal fundamentalists.

The basic blunder of ‘Article 370’, the ignoring of the exodus and persecution of Pandits and pandering to the separatists for the last sixty years have culminated in the establishment of a dangerous concept called ‘Kashmiri Nationalism’, which is bound to have devastating consequences.

The solution lies in the scrapping of Article 370, immediate rehabilitation of the Pandits in their own lands in the valley, restoration of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and renovation of destroyed temples, for Kashmir is a seat of Shivism and a part and parcel of the cultural heritage of India!
