GURUVAYUR: The Guruvayur Devaswom has decided to initiate a proposal for a destitute home at Guruvayur in the coming days, said Devaswom administrator V Ratheesan. The land acquisition for the project has been cleared by the Guruvayur Devaswom commissioner and the Devaswom Managing Committee is expected to initiate the project soon.

The devaswom security officials were forced to remove the destitutes at the East Nada of the temple owing to troubles to the normal devotees and the security personnel.

There are many anti-social people disguised as devotees and many of them use vulgar languages, fight with each other and a few were found drunken.

It is difficult for the Devaswom security officials to identify each and everyone sleeping on the premises of the East Nadappura and the Melpathur Auditorium during night.

The security personnel had removed all the people sleeping in front of the temple and the Melpathur auditorium two days aog owing to the fight between a few anti-socials staying on the temple premises as destitutes.

The Devaswom is bound to provide a safe and better place for the true destitutes who arrived here to spend the rest of their life at the feet of Sree Guruvayurappan but at the same time the Devaswom cannot entertain the stay of anti-social persons on the temple premises under the pretext of destitutes and devotees, Ratheesan said.

The Devaswom managing committee meet scheduled on September 10 will finalise a proposal for the true devotee destitutes and stringent action will be taken against the people engaged in anti-social activities, Ratheesan said
