Ayodhya, August 29, 2013 – The 84-Kosi Parikrama Padyatra (circumambulatory pilgrimage) of Ayodhya by the Sant-Dharmacharayas continued today also in spite of the ban on it imposed by the U.P. Government. After their overnight halt at Ayodhya, the Padyatris swiftly in a camouflage bypassed the security forces to pass through Darshan Nagar to Shringi Rishi Kshetra where after another night halt they reached Gosainganj Bhitowra. During this sojourn they also conducted their Bhajan-Keertans incognito. Sri Champat Rai, Int’L Secretary General of VHP confirmed in his statement issued to the media here that the 84-kosi circumambulatory pilgrimage has still been going on under the present challenging setting created against the Yatra by the U.P. Government driven by its politics of Vote Bank.

The Sant-Dharmacharyas are always geared up to protect and promote the Dharmic and cultural points and catalysts of honour and shall always remain so, he said. The Vishva Hindu Parishad shall always stand by the Sant Fraternity in the fulfillment of their determination for this cause. He said that the society was not going to be cowed down by the oppressive measures adopted by the government.

After getting to Ayodhya from the Lucknow jail, in their joint statement, the successor of the Maniramdas Chhawni Mahant Kamal Nayan Das and the Mahant of Nirvani Ani Sri Mahant Dharamdas said that the act of imprisoning the Sants and not even providing for their rituals and Prasad was a violation of their constitutional rights. They said that the ban on the Dharmic Padyatra of Sants is a Talibani act on the part of the U.P. government and that Ayodhya will not be allowed to be a Mughalistan. In a sharp reaction the Sants told that by terrorising the business community of Ayodhya and the pilgrims coming to the temples of the ancient pilgrimage centre what was the message that the U.P. government was trying to give! They said that in an effort to anatagonise the people towards the Sant Fraternty and this Parikrama Yatra the government has pressed into service many companies of the security forces at various points of the 84-kosi Parikrama route that covers about 252 kms and 600 villages. But the fact is that in their effort to appease their vote bank constituted of a particular section of the population, the government has been oppressing the Hindus. The 25th August to 13th September, 2013 Padyatra commenced already on 25th August, 2013 at the scheduled time when the Sant-Dharmacharyas conducted a symbolic Sarayu Poojan on the banks of the holy Sarayu at Ayodhya and courted arrest.
In another development, the Sagaraa Peethadhishwar of Amethi HH Abhichaitanya Brahmachari Maharaj with his twin-demands to be let to have Darshan of Ramlala (Infant Sri Ram) at Ayodhya and also conduct the Padyatra has started his indefinite fasting. Fifty-two of his followers would give him company. Men, women in huge numbers and even children are supporting his demands. He said on telephone that the fast that started on 27th August won’t stop unless and until the Sants are let to have Darshan of Ramlala at Ayodhya and conduct their 84-kosi parikrama. Ayodhya is the Dharmic base and pedestal of the Sant Fraternity. Depriving them of their “liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship” (vide Preamble of the Constitution of Bharat) and keeping them in house arrest in their temples is a violation of their constitutional rights and also a crime against their Rashtra Dharma and personal Dharma.

It appears that the country has again become trapped in the clutches of Aurangzeb and Babar. They said just as the Central Government and Dr Man Mohan Singh are under traps, similarly the Government of Babu Akhilesh has become trapped in the clutches of his “Chachajaan” (Uncle – the Vote Banker). The Government must liberate Ayodhya from its iron net, otherwise in the whole country and especially in Uttar Pradesh, the Sant Fraternity in their thousands would come out of their Math-Mandirs to register wide protests against the government misdeeds.
