2 Christian bodies doubt clean chit to school in Ruchika case

Questioning the authenticity of the ‘clean chit’ given to the Sacred Heart Convent School by the Chandigarh Diocese in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, two Christian human rights organisations have approached the Vatican representative in India to conduct an internal inquiry to determine the role of school principal in the case.

Indian Christian Righteous Action(ICRA) Forum and Poor Christian Liberation Movement(PCLM) alleged that the clean chit had been given without any proper inquiry and the Chandigarh Church were trying to suppress the facts, according to a PCLM statement here today.

In a letter to the Vatican representative in India yesterday, the two organisations demanded an internal Church inquiry into the case comprising a representative of Jesuits Fathers, a nun and local lay Christians. Fourteen-year-old Ruchika was molested by the then Haryana DGP S P S Rathore on August 12, 1990 and she committed suicide three years later.
