When the Victim of Intolerance met the Envoy of Compassion

Malappuram: When a population of 125 crore people enjoy a feeling of security under the administration of Narendra Modi, ISIS and Al Qaeda can never conquer the Muslims of Bharat- a Facebook post echoing these sentiments, highlighting Modi’s exemplary governance has earned some of the most horrendous experiences for a Muslim lady named Athica.

However the brave lady chose to give the most befitting rejoinder by enrolling herself as member of the nationalist political party- Bharatiya Janata Party. And when Kummanam Rajashekharan’s Vimochana Yatra reached Malappuram, Athica was in the forefront to welcome the Jananayakan. This has been her first meet with the state president of BJP.

And then Athica narrates her experiences. “There were people who could never comprehend the fact that a Muslim woman had spoken so eloquently in favour of Narendra Modi. Most of the threatening calls from Gulf countries. There was in fact a caller who threatened of beheading me and hanging my head in India Gate, if I praised Modi and condemned ISIS,” said Athica.

“And when someone loves Modi so wholeheartedly, how can one not love a person who is on equal footing with him,” said Athica about Kummanam. Not only was Athica in the forefront to welcome Kummanam but was also adherent to the customs of the motherland as she touched his feet in reverence, seeking his blessings.

A former member of CPM and a DYFI activist, the murder of TP Chandrasekharan left her disillusioned. And when a Marxist goon posted in Facebook about Kummanam “being an RSS agent, an emissary to stoke communal violence”, Athica slammed back with a counter picture showing a stark contrast of Kummanam sharing a humble meal with Adivasis and Pinarayi Vijayan enjoying sumptuous five star recourse. “Simple life, pledging oneself to serving society after having denounced family life, Kummanam is the owner of an unblemished persona. Kerala has ample hope in him. He is the upholder of tolerance,” said Athica.

Pointing out how it has been the “nature of CPM to character assassinate those who indulge in noble endeavours”, she said it is grossly wrong to think that ” the Muslim community is against BJP.”
