Valluvanad festival season kicks off today

The four-month long Valluvanad festival season begins on Monday with the “Kalavela” at Puthanalkal Devi temple in Cherpullasery.


 


 


The celebrations in the temple would begin with a special offering called Palum Vellariyum (Milk and raw rice). By noon Karivela of the people belonging to the Scheduled castes would assemble in the temple.


 


In the evening more than 50 pairs of decorated replicas of bulls will be brought from various villages related with the temple poothan, thira and other folklores would follow the bull replicas.


 


During midnight all the bull species would assemble in front of the temple. After the blessing by the oracle of the temple, the bull replicas will be erected.


 


Then the bulls would be withdrawn from the temple premises. After this month long Tholpavakkutthu will come to an end with the Pattabhishekham.


 


On Tuesday, Thalapoli will be celebrated with nine caparisoned elephants and Panchvadyam.
