GURUVAYUR: Thousands of devotees performed the Vilichu Cholli Prayaschitham before Sree Guruvayurappan and sought the blessings of the deity on Monday.

The devotees performed the ritual as a prelude to the devaprasnam parharakriyas to be performed in the temple. The devotees took out a namajapam procession from the Manjulal premises.

They offered prayaschitham (unconditional apology for known and unknown sins and omissions) before the deity at the East Gopuram and offered kadalippazham, red loin cloth, thulasi and coin as pryaschitham samarppanam.

Leaders of religious organisations Guruvayur Mani Swami, Chandrasekharan Nair, G K Prakash, A Venugopal, Janu Guruvayur and Karmayogi Harinarayanan led the devotees for the prayaschitham rituals.

The devaswom will begin the pariharakriyas and prayaschitham rituals in the temple from December 6, said Guruvayur Devaswom administrator V Ratheesan.
