Thuriyaatheetha Avadhoootha Upanishad
THURIYAATHEETHA AVADHOOOTHA UPANISHAD. This is a small Upanishad which explains the characteristics of an avadhootha sanyaasi.
1. Thuriya means a state beyond jaagrath, swapna, sushupti and thureeyam.
2. These are the four states for anyone including a great Rishi or yogi. But few yogis cross even this fourth level, so it is known as thureeya + atheetha = thiriyaatheetha, state of a Rishi/ yogi.
3. This description is given like a discussion between Lord Sreeman Narayana and Lord Brahma. Â
4. Anyone can reach this level through the state of a Rishi, then to Maharshi, then to Hamsa Rishi, from there to Paramahamsa rishi through knowing the Veda purusha+ mahapurusha and parama purusha ( prapancha purusha).Â
5. The thuriyaatheetha yogies / Rushies need not even wear clothes, they don’t have any mantras or rituals and they can give up anything and even everything.
6. That yogi will not be affected by punya / papa; jnaana or ajnaana; cold or heat;
7. He can control all the five sensory organs and five functional organs within seconds and keep himself away from the environmental influences.
8. Everything he does alone and resides in the corner of the world alone.
9. He will be detached from everything.
10 . He can experience the divinity in him and in all living and non living beings says the Upanishad.
