Thousands witness Manappullikkavu vela

PALAKKAD: Thousands of people participated in the Manappullikkavu vela on Thursday.

In the evening, 15 caparisoned elephants of Manappullikkavu lined up at Fort Maidan along with another 15 elephants from the three desams of Vadakkanthara, Koppam and Yakkara. Kudamattom was performed with Chendamelam and Panchavadyam.

After the usha pooja, there was Nagaswara Kacheri followed by laksharchana.

There was Kazchasiveli with Panchari Melam. In the afternoon, there was Keli. There was Kombu Pattu and Kuzhal Pattu.

The Bhagavathi Ezhunellippu began at 3 pm. After the lining up of the elephants, the Ezhunnellippu returned to the respective temples.

There was a display of fireworks. It was followed by pandimelam and a music concert.

All Government offices and educational institutions in Palakkad taluk were closed on Thursday as per the orders of the District Collector on account of the vela.
