Sreevidya-Nightingale of Guruvayur

GURUVAYUR: Srividya was considered the nightingale of Guruvayur. She had won the hearts of thousands here with her melodious voice and sweet smile.

Srividya is very popular as an ardent devotee of Sree Krishna and a singer.

She had participated in the Chembai festival in memory of the late Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, many a time.

She had rendered a music concert at the Melpathur Auditorium two years ago on ‘police vilakku’ day during Guruvayur Ekadasi festival, along with singers P Leela, Gayathri, Ambarish, and actors Mohanlal and Jagadeesh.

She also rendered a special concert last year at Melpathur Auditorium.

She used to sing songs written and composed by her on Lord Krishna and Sai Baba.

She had written and composed nearly 200 Krishna and Sai bhajans, which she used to sing during her concerts at Guruvayur and Puttaparthi.

Guruvayur Devaswom administrator K Anil Kumar mourned Srividya’s demise.
