Sree Nagaraja Awards presented

PALAKKAD: The Sree Nagaraja Awards 2009 was presented at a ceremony held at the Ayilya pandal of Sree Pambinkaavu temple in Pampady near Thiruvilwamala here on Monday. Singer K J Yesudas presented the awards to four personalities for their contributions in their respective fields. Coimbatore Arya Vaidya Sala medical director Dr K G Ravindran was given the award for his contribution to ayurveda, musician T S Radhakrishnan for his contribution to devotional songs, writer Chovallur Krishnankutty for literature and R K Damodaran for penning lyrics for film and devotional songs. The award carried a citation and plaque. A ‘Nagaopaharam’ was presented to Ambalapuzha Vijayakumar and M P Ramadas for their contribution to sopana sangeetham.


Speaking on the occasion, K J Yesudas said that the truth and god were one. He said that they were only being worshipped in different forms and places. All the award winners spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Yesudas was received with a ‘purnakumbham’ on arrival by melshanthi Gopakumar.

Yesudas also visited the temple. Yesudas, who is turning 70, was also presented with a ‘sapthathi suvarna mudra’ by the temple authorities.
