Kannur: SFI and DYFI activists today confronted a lady ABVP member and resorted to brutal assault. The girl Anuja, a second year degree student of Government Women’s College Kannur and native of Alappuzha, has sustained serious injuries and is reported to be in a critical state in District Government Hospital Kannur.
SFI goons are said to have unleashed violence during the jubilations held in connection with the declaration of election results in Krishna Menon Memorial Women’s College. Trouble started when rioting Left goons tore the ABVP flag into shreds. When  ABVP members questioned the move, the red brigade resorted to unbridled violence.

According to sources, SFI goons had openly forbidden any activity by members of other students unions. However this time, ABVP had overcome all these hurdles and had put up a sterling performance, which irked the Marxist goons who went on a destructive rampage.
