Rigveda Laksharchana begins

GURUVAYUR: The auspicious ‘Rigveda Laksharchana’ began at Sree Venkitachalapathy temple here on Saturday.

The temple thantris Chennas Raman Namboothiripad, Chennas Vasudevan Namboothiripad and Chennas Satheesan Namboothiripad are leading the thantric rituals for the Laksharchana while vedic scholars from the Brahmaswom madoms at Thrissur and Thirunnavaya are performing the chanting of verses from Rigved and performing the Laksharchana on kalasams filled up with theerthams for the abhishekam on the idol of principal deity, Sree Venkitachalapathy.

The Laksharchana will conclude on September 29.

Special poojas are also being performed at the upadevatha shrine of Thiruvenithamma.

The Thirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam has organised various cultural programmes daily at the temple in the evening in connecetion with the Laksharchana.
