THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Religious terrorism is posing a threat to national security, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pranth karyavahak A.R. Mohanan has said.

Addressing the valedictory function of the `Rashtra Raksha Sanchalan’ here on Tuesday, Mr. Mohanan said terrorist elements had gained roots in Kerala too. The police had disclosed that the State’s seashores were being used to ship arms and train terrorists. Top Army officials had also said that ISI activities were on in the Malabar region. Arms had been seized from different parts of the State. “The situation is alarming.”

Extremist elements, he said, were infiltrating political parties and human rights organisations and using them for furthering their interests. The parties were interested only in nurturing their vote banks. RSS leader R. Hari and Bharatiya Vichara Kendram director P. Parameswaran were among those who spoke.
