Ramayanamela for students begins

PATHANAMTHITTA: Hundreds of students participated in the programmes conducted as part of the twoday Ramayanamela 2009 organised by the Mannar Thrikuratti Mahadeva Samiti at the Sree Mahadeva temple on Saturday.

Around 4,000 students representing 225 schools from Kottayam, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts are participating in the programmes based on Ramayana.

Ramayana recital, quiz, bhajan and elocution competitions for UP, High School and Higher Secondary students were held on the first day.

The competitions were held under the leadership of Kerala Hindu Matha Padasala Parishad president Purushothaman Nair.

Ramayana Prathiba Trophy will be presented to the student who scores the highest mark.

Trophies will also be presented to the top-scoring schools in the UP, High School and Higher Secondary categories.

Devaswom Minister G.Sudhakaran will inaugurate the valedictory function and give away the trophies at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

P C Vishnunath MLA will preside over the function.

Devaswom Commissioner P V Nalinakshan Nair, Devaswom chief engineer G Rajagopal, N Prabha Varma and executive engineer G Muralikrishnan and Purushothaman Nair will speak on the occasion.
