PATHANAMTHITTA: Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram director P Parameswaran has mooted the formation of a ‘Dharmacharya Sabha’ to make timely changes in the temple customs and practices.

Delivering the presidential address at the Ayyappabhaktha meet as part of the 96th Ayroor-Cherukolppuzha Hindumatha Parishad at Sree Vidyadhiraja Nagar at Ayroor near here on Wednesday, P Parameswaran said that an expert set-up would be vital in view of the vicious and malicious campaigns unleashed over issues related to temple practices by vested interests and non-believers.

The open and relentless campaigns and debates centred around Sabarimala, Guruvayur and Kadampuzha temples created distress and deep concern among the Hindu community, Parameswaran said.

The proposed ‘Dharmacharya Sabha’ should discuss such campaigns and come out with reactions and suggestions, he said. Parameswaran said that the malicious campaigns were deliberate and unleashed with the ulterior motives of hurting the Hindu religious sentiments. The ‘Dharmacharya Sabha’ should have sanyasins of mutts, including Sree Ramakrishna Mission, Sivagiri Mutt and Amritanandamayi Matt, astrologers, thantris, temple priests and Hindu scholars as its members, Parameswaran said.
