Kummanam Rajasekharan is Bharatiya Janata Party Kerala unit’s President. Kummanam, who has hitherto been general secretary of state Hindu Aikya Vedi, will replace V Muraleedharan.

Kummanam, a prominent leader from Kerala who served as a Pracharak with Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh, played the most important and pivotal role in the historical ‘movement against Nilakkal temple land encroachment’ and ‘Paliyam Declaration’. In 1987, he resigned from the government and became a full time Pracharak, being chiefly instrumental in spearheading Kerala’s Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Kshetra Samrakshana Samiti, Balasadanams, and Ekal Vidyalayas. He was instrumental in bringing together several spiritual organisations and encouraging them to work for the uplift of the downtrodden.

Along with the post of general secretary of Hindu Aikya Vedi, Kummanam holds responsibilities of general secretary of Sabarimala Ayyappa Sewa Samajam and chairman of Janmabhumi Daily. Known for his extraordinary oration, Kummanam is known for his down to earth nature and disarming simplicity.
