The other day I heard a lecture by the
above said scholar regarding Lord Vamana and Lord Parashurama. He has expressed
his opinion that the whole matter is illogical and against Geography. His poser
was how could there be Vamana in Kerala when Lord Parashurama avatar came only
later. The throwing of the axe was also termed as a story .Many viewers were
upset about these views and next day Shri.Gopalakrishnan himself disclosed this
but stated that his view was correct.

I took the trouble of telephoning
Shri.Gopalakrishnan and pointed out to him that there is nothing wrong in the
whole thing. Lord Vamana avatar took place on the land which then constituted
the western coast of India.
Lord Parashurama extended the land mass from Kanyakumari to Gokarna. The
throwing of the axe is only symbolic. When a new building is inaugurated it is
done by cutting a red ribbon. It is only symbolic. We are taught in History
books that Shahjahan built the Tajmahal but it is not correct. Thousands of
slaves toiled day and night with their blood, sweat and tears, yet the credit
goes only to Shahjahan.

The throwing of the axe was also ridiculed
by Dr.Gopalakrishnan. Our Jewish and Christian brothers believe that Moses
parted the Red Sea by using a stick. These are
all the artist’s impression and we cannot therefore reject an entire body of
ancient belief, knowledge and wisdom.

In Ernakulam the Marine Drive was created by extending the
land mass of Shanmugham Road.
Can we disbelieve it ?

People like Dr.Gopalakrishnan should
exercise restraint and caution before rejecting our ancient scriptures. On an
earlier occasion also I found him pouring scorn on Astrology and Vastushastra.Readers and listeners paying attention to
Dr.Gopalakrishnan should be careful before accepting his views blindly.
