Malliyoor Sankaran Nampoothiri dies
KOTTAYAM: Noted Sanskrit scholar and Bhagavatham exponent Malliyoor Sankaran Nampoothiri died here today. He was 91. He died of old age related ailments at 6.30 am this morning at his residence in Kuruppanthara in the district. He will be cremated at 7 pm this evening.
Malliyoor has conducted more than 2000 Bhagawatha Sapthahams. His wife Subadra Antharjanam, daughter of Mezhathoor Arappanattu Bhattathiri died in 2004. He leaves behind his children Parameswaran Nampoothiri (Indu), Arya Devi (Ambika), Parvathy Devi (Suma) and Divakaran Nampoothiri.
He was born to Parameswaran Namboodiri and Arya Antharjanam on February 2 in 1921.Malliyoor was the recipient of many awards.
