Lord Rama’s Leadership Skills

DOING THE THINGS/ WORK AND GETTING THE THINGS DONE

In all our ancient literature one can see that the managers, leaders and the kings get the things done with the support and help of others. However when the war comes, they will be in the forefront of the battle field.

The true management is not doing everything by ourselves, but it should be getting the things done with full cooperation, complementation and co-existing feeling in the mind of co workers.

Generally some of us think that instead of telling others, let us do that WORK ! This is not bad if he /she has to do it, or they have enough time, energy and knowledge about that work.

If you get the things done through others and give full responsibility and also the credit of the success to them. This working together will be a pleasure for everyone.

Human beings are social animals and the tendency is to work together, share the result of the work together, enlighten together and that too without any aversion and ego.

Thus we can share, care and cure many types of negative feelings among ourselves and can create a feeling of togetherness.

A leaders’ capacity can be evaluated by assessing how the things / work go in his absence. Thus leadership is the quality of doing the critical work and getting the work done from others and giving or sharing the credit. This also include taking the discredit of the failures, if it occurs.

In Ramayana this can be clearly seen. Major responsibility was given to Lakshmana, then penetrates down to Sugreeva, then to many groups through group leaders. Finally the whole system became successful and the credit of that action got shared.

However when the most risky job had to be done, Rama and Lakshmana stood in the forefront to defeat Ravana who has the capacity of ten heads and equivalent muscle power. Let us work and let us motivate others also work together like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam did through out his life and became an ideal model leaders and scientist for us.
