Kodungallur Bharani concludes
KODUNGALLUR: The historical Meena Bharani festival at Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bhagavathi temple concluded on Wednesday.
Thousands of devotees from various parts of the state thronged the temple for the Bharani festival on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The festival concluded with the thali samarpanam ritual. The Bhagavathi Pallimadam temple will be opened after seven days.
Aswathi Kavu Theendal, one of the major rituals associated with the Bharani festival, was performed on Tuesday.
The idol of Bhagavathi was adorned with sandal as part of the ritual. Mudiyettu and Panakali were also performed. On Tuesday, oracles performed Kaavutheendal at Kurumba Kavu. Groups of devotees from various parts of the state arrived at the temple chanting devi manthras.
On Wednesday morning, the Vennikkodi Nattal ritual was performed followed by Kusmanda Bali at the Vadakkenada of the temple. Hundreds of devotees from the coastal region of the state came to the temple to perform the thali samarpanam ritual. Variyari payasam was also distributed as part of the festival.
The traffic in the town came to a standstill on Wednesday with thousands of devotees gathering at the Kurumba Bhagavathi Temple.
