Janmashtami award to Shri Vishnu Narayanan Nampoothiri

Kochi: Eminent poet Sri Vishnu Narayanan Nampoothiri has been selected for this year’s Janmashtami Prize by Balasamskara Kendra.  


 


The award committee comprising of Mahakavi. Akkitham, famous writer Sri. M.K Sanu, Critic P.K Shankaran, Poet P.Narayanakurup and Balagokulam education scheme president Sri. E.M Gopalakrishnan master announced this decision.


 


This award is being meant for his literary work which highlighted the messages of Lord Krishna and the significance of unconditional devotion for the spiritual upliftment of society.


 


This prize is being awarded for the past 10 years as part of Balagokulam’s Janmashtami celebrations by Balasamskara kendra based at Aluva.


 


The previous winners include Smt. Sugathakumari, Yosufali Kechery, K.B Sridevi, Mahakavi Akkitham, Malliyoor Sankaran Nampoothiri, P.Parameswaran, P.Leela, Swami Parameswaranandaji, Artist K.K Varier and S.Ramesan Nair.


 


Award committee praised the efforts made by poet Sri Vishnu Narayanan Nampoothiri to arouse the society by the bhakti marg through his poems. The award worth Rs 10,001 and the memento will be formally given to the poet at a function in Thiruvananthapuram on Aug. 23.
