Kozhikode: There are reports of rampant religious conversions still taking place in God’s own country, along with collection of data, of Hindu and Christian youths with the sole purpose of ISIS recruitment. Niche of Truth, the Islamic organization is said to be behind the move, with funding done by Tablighi Jamaat. Investigating agencies including RAW have begun work on this front.

Sources state that data collection is done via an application form which seeks filling of details for free procurement of Quran in Malayalam. This, along with other schemes are said to have been envisaged and executed by a team headed by controversial Jihadi preacher MM Akbar. “Propagation of radical Salafism in every part of Kerala, along with recruitment of youths in ISIS are said to be the main attributes behind data collection. Most of the activity is centered on bus stands and railway stations, colleges, etc. A copy of the Quran is sent to those who exhibit a congenial attitude. Following this Niche of Truth establishes a bond with these people and coerce them into religious conversion,” state sources.

Data collection is done mainly in Northern Kerala. Intelligence agencies have confirmed the presence of international terror groups behind the move.
