IISH Updates from Dr Gopalakrishnan 11 June-2009
THURSDAY MESSAGE, 11th JUNEÂ 2009 (SERIES 161)
Maithraayani upanishad. It has 4 parts known as prapatakas. The first prapataka describes the history of King Bruhadratha, who after ruling the country, left for vaanaprastha. There he met a great Rishi Santayana. The King asks the questions about the body, mind, karma of human beings to the sage. The question were about the body composition which are blood, flesh, muscles, bones and many ‘waste’ materials. In this composition how the feeling, emotions, desires, arise? What is the purpose of life ? Why should we live ? What should be the ultimate aim of the life?
Maharshi Sakayana explained that the body is like a chariot which is temporary and never think it is permanent, it is composed of many materials. All the feelings are coming from the mind. But these feelings are based on the Jagrath, Swapna and Sushupta stage of the mind. The chariot body is dragged by the sensory organs, the pathway is decided by the karma phala. Ultimate aim of the life should be self realisation. (contd)

INDIAN LITERATURE:
Vedic Rishies are those Rishies who composed the Vedic hymns. They are known as mantra drushtaara means they could see or visualise the divinity in nature through their inner visions. All those Vedic lines are written by more than 200 Rishies as sukthas. The name of each Rishi and Medic deity is mentioned with every suktha.

SERIOUS INFORMATION
A great Hindu Indian professor & physician working abroad informed me that his son is now living as a Muslim. His son was converted into Islam by a Pakistani Muslim. The professor requested me to give a suggestion to bring his son back to Hindu dharma.  When our children are ignorant and nothing is taught about our dharma, this will naturally happen.

ANCIENT INDIAN MANAGEMENT MESSAGES:VIDUROPADESA
Hey Dhrutharashtra Maharajan! The sensory organs and the mind are crucial in human life. The mind with sensory organs get stuck with objects of attraction. Where they get dragged, the wisdom leaks out. Control of sensory organs, generous support for the charitable activities, thapas, discarding the bad feelings are to be practised for a good life.

SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGICAL HERITAGE OF INDIA
Varahamihira in Bruhath samhitha has explained the carburization process for sharpening the sword by treating with a day old liquid made of the burnt power of banana mixed butter milk and then sharpened properly. This sharp sword will not be breaking in stones nor become blunt .
Â
WHAT I HEARD AND SAW
I got into a train by mistake which started about 4 hrs before the actual train to which I had to travel. The TTR came only after two hrs, and informed me about the mistake and told me to get down in the next station. It is very late night. After ten minutes I went and asked the TTR, since the other train will come only after 4 hrs and I have to be in the station for that much time, “can I continue in this trainâ€. He said you are now a ticket less traveller, if you have to continue you will have to pay a heavy amount with penalty. Then he said to me “ sir you are guiding many people through Television messages and lecture, I shall guide you upto your destination. Be hereâ€Â I felt/thought every good action will be rewarded.

THIS WEEK MESSAGE
The monsoon has set, the nature gives enough water for our use for today and for future. What we need to do is only to preserve the water underground. Never allow the rainwater to go out of our campus. Let it get into the soil as much as possible. This can be used for the future.
Â
A LINE OF GUIDANCE
Majority of the people will be thinking only about their work. The capacity of the leader is to make them think with an integrated vision and mission, so that they get involved in many positive activities connected / disconnected with the profession
Â
PAINFUL HISTORY OF INDIA
Indians practised the principle of athithi devo bhava. Only through this principle Muhammed Gazni, Ghori, and many invaders came and ruled India. Still we keep the wrong message of athithi devo bhava only through its meaning and not through its message. We have not learned anything from history.
Â
SCIENTIFIC SUPERSTITION
A frequent health check up is the most dangerous method as advised by many doctors. After each check up a warning ‘silent or violent’ is given by the doctor. Do not consume sugar/salt/pickles/ oil/fat/and so on. We start feeling that we are sick and that is the prime cause for many health problem.
Â
A LINE ON ACHARA
Pray (or sit) few seconds by sitting on the bed early morning. This will help to balance the blood pressure of the body as the horizontal body becomes vertical, creates pressure jerks in the performance of the heart.

YOUR QUESTIONS AND MY ANSWERS

Do the bhoo vandanam with a mantra samudra vasane…… do not take the bed coffee /tea…… take a morning bath….. a prayer during bath remembering the parent 9if they are no more)…..  minimum ten minutes prayer chanting few mantras , keerthans, and few minutes meditation….. atleast five soorya namaksara……… prayer before taking food……. Evening before prayer minimum ten minutes payer, before going to bed also a few minutes prayer…..@ keep sareera suddhi , mana suddhi, vaak suddhi, aahaara suddhi, karma suddhi (purity of body, mind, words, food and karma)………. Do pancha mahayajna : worship of gods, worship of forefathers, worship of great Rishies, worship of all living beings in nature and worship of the learned people ( deva-pitru-rushi-bhootha and manushya yajnas) Learn as much as possible the messages of Vedas, puranaas, itihasas and follow the path of satya, dharma, neeti and nyaaya. Try to understand the message of Hindu dharma from Vedas directly, from itihasas through the events narrated and through puranic stories. This will automatically lead you to Hindu dharma. One cannot convert into Hindu dharma but he has to become a Hindu
