Hindu congress from Feb 7

The 98th Ayiroor Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Parishath, the only Hindu congress of its kind in Kerala, will be held from February 7 to 14 with various programmes on the sand bed of holy River Pamba.

Parishath president TN Uperndranatha Kurup, secretary MP Sasidharan Nair and convener AG Hariharan Nair told newsmen here on Wednesday that various programmes would be held during the week-long celebrations.

They said Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, Sri Suttur Math Mysore, would inaugurate the Parishath while former Union Minister O Rajagopal would preside over the inaugural session. MLAs and other prominent persons would address it.

Padmashri P Parameswaran, Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran, Irrigation Minister NK Premachandran and journalist Leela Menon would inaugurate different sessions. Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary TKA Nair would preside over the valedictory session, they added.

Preparations for the Parishath had already begun they informed. A pandal would be erected to seat more than 25,000 people who would come to hear the spiritual discourses to be held in the Parishath and to witness various other programmes. According to the organizers, the Chrukolpuzha Hindu Sangamam, as the conference was known popularly, was the only Hindu spiritual congress of its stature in the entire State.
