Guruvayur-Sradhamoottu performed

GURUVAYUR: The unique ritual of performing Sradhamoottu was held at Sree Krishna temple here on Thursday.

It is believed that Sree Guruvayurappan is performing the Sradhamoottu of one of his devotees and it is known as Makam Sradhamoottu. The ritual was performed inside the nalambalam.

A member from the Puliyannoor illam who had served the temple for many years as thantri also attended the ritual.

The devaswom offered a dakshina to the former thantri of the temple.

The special kazhchasiveli and Sreebhoothabali were also performed at the temple on Thursday.

At the Melpathur auditorium Aparna Marar and Kalamandalam Leelamma staged Mohiniyattam and playback singer Gayathri sang Hindusthani bhajans.

Kalamanadalam O.K. Ambika will perform a classical concert Krishnageetham while dancer Kalshektra Sunitha Nair from Indian Fine Arts Academy, Singapore, will perform a two-hour Bharathanatyam archana based on Krishna keerthanams and playback singer M.G. Sree Kumar will stage a bhakthi ganamela as part of the annual festival programmes on Friday.
