Guruvayur police offer Ekadasi Vilakku

GURUVAYUR: The Ekadasi Vilakku by the Guruvayur police was conducted on Sunday at the Sree Krishna temple here.

Special rituals at the temple began with Kazhchasiveli accompanied by Melam led by Peruvanam Kuttan Marar and panchavadyam led by Choattanikkara Vijayan.

As part of the ceremony, nearly 500 inmates of the destitute home at Guruvayur municipality, inmates of Balika Sadan and various orphanages here were given ‘Vilakku Sadya’.

Thrissur Superintendent of Police M P Dinesh inaugurated the colourful cultural programmes at Melpathur auditorium held as part of the celebration. Actor Meera Nandan and child artist Savithri performed classical dances.

Manaloor Gopinath staged Ottan Thullal.

It was followed by Kathakali by Babitha Gopinath.

Traditional art forms like Nanthunipattu, Bhajan and a bhakthi ganamela were also held.

Senior IPS officials from the various districts and policemen from various stations along with their family attended the police Vilakku celebration.

Kunnamkulam DySP T K Thomas, DySP V Radhakrishnan, Guruvayur CI S Abhilash, sub-inspecor M Surendran and station writer Radhakrishnan coordinated the Vilakku celebrations.
