Divakaran Namboothiripad dead
TRIPUNITHURA: Puliyannoor Divakaran Namboothiripad,74, son of late Puliyannoor Narayanan Namboothiripadu (Kunjunni) and Bhadrakalimattappilly Mana Arya Antharjanam died on Monday.
Divakaran Namboothiripadu is the senior most thanthri of Sree Poornathrayeesha Temple, Chottanikkara Devi Temple, Ernakulam Siva temple and other prominent temples. He was a retired officer of the Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank.
He is survived by his mother Arya Antharjanam, wife Gowri Antharjanam, children Harinarayanan Namboothiri, Sreelatha and Vasudevan Namboothiripadu.
Cremation took place on the house premises on Monday. Divakaran Namboothiripadu, the eldest member of Puliyannoor Mana, was a strict follower of temple rituals.
His family enjoyed the thanthri title of more than 800 temples coming under the Travancore and Cochin Devaswom Boards.
Around sixty members of the family headed by Divakaran Namboothiripadu are engaged in preserving the traditional customs in these temples.
