Athirudra Mahayagnam held in Mammiyoor Mahadeva Temple

GURUVAYUR: Athirudra mahayagnam being held at the Mammiyoor Mahadeva temple here for the last 11 days concluded with the ‘vasoordhara’ ritual on Wednesday.


Thanthri Chennas Vasudevan Namboothiripad and Chennas Hari Namboothiripad performed the most auspicious Vasoordhara samarpanam.

The 11-day Athirudram performed once in 12 years was performed under the supervision of Kapplingad Divakaran Namboothiripad, the yagna acharyan, along with nearly 200 vedic scholars.

The ‘jeeva kalasam abhishekam’ was performed on the idol of Lord Siva.

The cultural meet held in connection with the Athirudra yagnam mark the final day was inaugurated by Tourism deputy director K N Satheesan.

Thousands thronged Mammiyoor Mahadeva temple to witness the Rudra Kalasabhishekam.

Ottamthullal artist Manaloor Gopinath staged ottamthullal and Bhagavatha acharya Sandeep Chaithanya delivered a devotional discourse. Lakhs of devotees were served with Annadanam and yagna prasadams.
