Bhavanam a Poonkavanam

By the word Poonkavanam( Poovu, Kay, Vanam in Malayalam), it means to have flower for archana, own grown vegetables for a healthy body and trees for a better eco system for all of us and our next generation and Bhavanam means home.

With this scheme Ayyappa Seva Samajam is giving a very strong message to our society that preservation of forest and self dependency for our food is very essential for our life on earth going forward.

Ayyappa Seva Samajam has already collected seeds of trees, flowers and vegetables in association with horticultural department of Kerala. These seeds will be distributed through many Guru Swamis who guide the Ayyappa devotees across the state of Kerala .Devotees  will be adviced to plant it back in their home to mark the love towards the mother earth, as a symbol of happiness gained from the Sabarimala pilgrimage.

45-50 million devotees visit Shabarimala annually and if we can reach out to at least 10 percent of this devotees, around 4 million trees would be planted annually, as much of vegetables be planted and as much of plants for flower. This would be the biggest event ever by any organization once it grows to its full capacity, told Kummanam Rajasekharan

Especially when there are climate changes and global warming staring at us, this wonderful project aiming at strengthening the eco system can do wonders to make the earth more livable for our future generation .
