Insulting Hindus Again

Dragging the name of Radha and Krishna by the judges of Supreme Court for its justification on live-in relationship and pre-marital sex is not only unwarranted but also uncalled for. It reflects not only the insensitive and intolerant era in judiciary but also poor understanding of Indian tradition and culture. It is natural to expect from the highest court of the land that its verdict respects the sensibilities of a plural and diversified society that India is, however, in number of instances, it fumbled and invited strong reaction from the cross section of the society. While the highest court may be somewhat right in justifying ‘living together’ as a right to life and liberty highlighting their inability that there is no sufficient law which can prevent pre-marital sex.Notwithstanding, their fascination to go beyond their jurisdiction while comparing Radha and Krishna that they lived together without marriage has hurt the sentiments of Hindus in the country is either not known to the Honourable apex court judges or they know that majority community is completely passive unlike Muslims in the country. Can Honourable apex court dare to draw such comparisons with Muslim religious scripture?

Can Supreme Court be allowed to go on making such remarks without taking Hindu sensibilities into account – it is a question which is hard to answer. The other aspect of the question is that whether the Hindu society will remain a mute spectator to such misrepresentation of its culture and tradition. So far no concrete step has been taken from any quarters to at least register a protest on the issue with the Supreme Court although some objections have been raised through some individual initiatives by some Hindu activists and writers. It is highly unfortunate to note that so far Hindus have reacted softly on core issues which affects the sentiment of majority community such as on the reservation of minority community, paintings of MF Hussain denigrating Hindu Gods and Goddesses, uniform civil code, building of Ram temple in Ayodhya and cases related to Gujarat riots. The authorities have always been under pressure and guided by the principle of minority appeasement and influenced by myriad of writ petitions by few anti-Hindu NGO’s which only serves the purpose of anti-national elements. Unless and until Hindu society comes forward to formulate strong response on the issues affecting it, the authorities will continue to treat Hindus casually without attempting to consider their core issues with the required seriousness and sincerity.
