Grave ill effect of taking over management of temples by the Government !
Such thing would not have happened if the temple was under the control of devotees

Pandharpur (Maharashtra): It has been brought to light that the cows donated to ‘Vitthal – Rukmini Temple’ Committee by the devotees from Maharashtra and other States, were sold to butchers by the Committee and this has enraged the ‘Vitthal-devotees’. (Hindus, please note that although it is a known fact that a cow is very sacred to them, cows received as offerings have been sold off to the butchers by the Temple Committee. Thus, the Committee has deliberately acted against Dharma. Such anti-Dharma Committee has no right to look after the management of the Temple but it is fit to be punished. Such temple –committee should be dissolved and start an agitataion for the management of the Temple to be handed over to the devotees ! – Editor SP) Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) is all set to stage an agitation in this regard.

The ‘Mandir Committee’ has constructed a ‘Goushala’. Many devotees offer cows for this ‘Gou-shala’. There were about 100 cows thus received by way of donation in the ‘Goushala’. As the ‘Mandir Committee’ had to maintain the cows without them being used to gain any income, they became a burden for the Committee. (The condition of secular governance has become so poor that it cannot look after the cows. The shameless Committee for whom money is everything, may tomorrow sell the temples to followers of other religions in case the temple stops raising enough money. Hindus must see to it that such temple committees and the secular government forming such committees are given stringent punishment for anti-Dharma activities; once the active devout Hindus are elected to power ! – Editor SP)

The Committee, therefore, decided that it would give cow and bulls to whoever was interested to take; but many cows and bulls were still remaining; out of which some were sent to the market for sale and it was observed that the buyers were butchers. The Committee has, however, tried to save its face by declaring that it was not aware of the identity of the buyers of the cows. (Cow is worshiped by Hindus. It is the height of irresponsibility that no enquiry was made about the buyers of cows. How must the Committee then managing the temple? – Editor SP)

The Administration did not bother to answer as to why the animals were sold for pittance. (Would the temple committee and the Government show such irresponsibility and insensitivity towards places and things of worship of followers of other religions? And had they done so, one can imagine its effect. Only because Hindus do not behave like followers of other religions do when their religious sentiments are hurt, they have to see severe denigration of their objects of worship ! – Editor SP)
