RSS affiliate body hails Jairam for robe remark

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh has received more support for his anti-convocation robe remarks as the Shiksha Bachao Andolan (SBA) – an RSS affiliate body – has lauded him for the remarks. The SBA is also planning to move a resolution for adopting Indian traditional outfits in convocations during its coming national convention in the State capital.
Atul Kothari, national co-convener of the SBA and secretary Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas while talking to mediapersons on Thursday stated that he justified Ramesh’s remarks of terming the convocation robe as the barbaric colonial relic during IIFM, Bhopal’s annual convocation.
He also lauded Guru Ghasidas University Vice-Chancellor’s decision for replacing ceremonial robe with traditional outfits during the convocation.
Kothari further added that letter of appreciations have been dispatched to Ramesh and the Bilaspur University Vice-Chancellor. He also informed that a national convention was being jointly organised by the SBA and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas in the State capital on May 8 and 9.
Kothari further informed that another resolution seeking a worldwide ban on Wendy Doniger’s book ‘The Hindu An Alternative History’. He claimed that the book has depicted Lord Krishna in obscene manner and also has mentioned baseless and objectionable things about Lord Rama and Laxman, Rani Laxmibai, Swami Vivekanand and others. He claimed that a legal notice has also been served to the publisher of this book in India.
