Man deplaned, detained over ‘suspicious’ act
A man on board a Dubai-bound Emirates Airways flight was on Wednesday detained by security personnel at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the Capital after a co-passenger complained about his “suspicious behaviour” just before take-off. The man, who was said to be associated with Islamic seminary Darul-uloom Deoband, was offloaded as Emirates flight EK511 from Delhi to Dubai was taxiing for take-off, airport sources said.
They said he was talking over cellphone apparently telling someone that the flight is about to take off when a woman co-passenger complained to the cabin crew about his alleged “suspicious behaviour”.
The cabin crew then informed the captain who decided to abort the take-off. The man was offloaded and was handed over to police. The flight was delayed by an hour.
Police and intelligence bureau personnel were questioning the man and checking his antecedents. Nothing suspicious has been found as of now, the sources said.
