Denigrating Hinduism – UP Govt. to seize the copies of ‘Ambedkar Today’

Ambedkar Today, the magazine now in its 10th year, is published from Jaunpur and a Dr Rajiv Ratn resident of 4, Gulistaan Colony, Lucknow is its editor. The magazine claims some ministers in the present Uttar Pradesh government as its Patrons. In the May 2010 Edition of this magazine, at page no 31 one Sri Ashwini Kumar Shakya son of Sri P L Shakya, Pagara Road, Jaura, District Muraina (Madhya Pradesh) has presented a table under the heading Vaidik Brahman aur Uska Dharm (Vaidik Brahmin and his religion).

He starts it by equating the Hindu religion as Manav mulyon par kalank (blot on the Human values), tyajya dharm(forbidden religion), Bhontu and Rondu dharm(foolish and weeping religion) and Paapgarh(a den of sins). The four Vedas, revered by millions of Hindus are, as per the authors version as krura, Nirdayi, jangali, bewkoofiyon kaa museum, murkhtaon ka indrajaal (i.e., etc. cruel, heartless, museum of foolishness, web of idiocy etc). Hindu Dharma shastra are the Nikrishta shastra(third-rate scripture). The 33 crore Devatas (Hindu deities as per Hindu mythologies) are Gangster, Kapti, kruraand hatyara (i.e. Gangsters, cunning, cruel, murderers).

I doubt if this author would ever have courage to condemn some of the other religions in the same vein. This is a most dishonourable and objectionable way of commenting on some religion and its different facets and its use for any person amounts to commitment of a criminal act. When the same word(s) are used for a God to whom millions of people owe deep faith, then it is tantamount to deliberate, intentional and mischievous insult of the sentiments of a religion.

As an Indian and as a Human being, I am deeply hurt by this and feel that proper legal action must be taken against every person involved in this case. I have written a letter to the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh and the DIG/SSP Lucknow to take suitable action against such persons. At the same time, I strongly feel that no one shall be allowed to play with the religious sentiments of others so deliberately and so disgustingly. Each person need to have a right to have his/her religion respected and must respect others religion/faith as well.

Update:

The Uttar Pradesh Government today ordered seizure of all the copies of the magazine ‘Ambedkar Today’  for it’s highly objectionable portrayal of Hinduism.

According UNI Report

Official sources said the district magistrate has been asked to cancel the title of the magazine without any delay. The magazine had published some un-parliamentary, obnoxious and objectionable comments against a particular religion. The editor of the magazine had said he was unaware of the language and elements of the article as he was unwell and was not going through all the articles.
