Karnataka Cong misused flood relief fund

A scam involving Rs 2.3 crore collected from people for flood relief operations has hit Karnataka Congress. The party allegedly misused the fund.
 
The scam was exposed after details of the bank account, in which the Congress’s state unit had deposited the money, were leaked. The account was held in Canara Bank’s Mahadevapura branch in Bangalore.
 
The bank statement reveals that crores of rupees, meant for the rehabilitation of flood victims in October 2009, were grossly misused by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). It shows that out of Rs 2.3 crore collected, Rs 40.51 lakh was used for the KPCC’s office expenses.
 
Rs 4.82 lakh were used on advertisements against the BJP government’s failure to provide adequate relief and Rs 75 lakh transferred to a fixed deposit.
