‘Jaziya’ hiked in Tamilnadu temple

via Vijayalakshmi G published on June 28, 2010

The arbitrary hike in the ‘darshan rates’ at the famous Annamalaiar Temple, Thiruvannamalai  from Rs20/- to Rs50/- once again exposes the atheist Govt’s high-handedness and callousness to Hindu sentiments. It is a well-known fact that about five lakh devotees perform ‘girivalam’
on every ‘poornima’/full-moon nights. Several lakhs visit the temple during the week-ends. The unethical ‘secular’ Govts treat Hindu temples and devotees as milch cows, and try to exploit them as much as possible.

Hindus have been struggling to free  our temples from the evil clutches of the Govt. Most of the devotees  visiting Thiruvannamalai are from the lower income group, and whole families also visit, for whom the hike is too much. The Govt is inviting more trouble for itself by hiking the ‘darshan rates’. It is noteworthy to mention here that  it is  the  various Hindu Ashrams  which provide round-the clock ‘annadaanam'(free food) for the devotees. It is high time  the Govt is told that a  secular Govt has no business controlling temples, and that Hindus have as much right to manage their own  temple/religious affairs, as much as christians and muslims have to manage theirs. The Govt is at best only a trustee. It is the devotees who are the real
owners of the temples.

Recently, there is a spurt in the  nefarious activities of the christist conversion gangs in Thiruvannamalai. Probably, the sight of so many lakhs of Hindus performing the ‘girivalam’ is causing heartburn in these characters. So they must have sought the help of the  mercenary atheist elements to reduce the numbers visiting the Annamalaiar temple. This hike in ‘darshan rates’ is probably meant to please them. but Hindus will not take it. The motivated move must be abandoned by the Govt.
