Temples demolished for the smooth flow of Traffic in Chennai
Chennai: Two historical temples in Chennai have been demolished and 34 more temples are awaiting demolition. Chennai corporation demolished Gangaiamman Kovil and Puttu Kovil near Velachery Main road. Some of the other temples which figure in the list are Elankaliamman Temple located on Anna Salai, Saidapet; Valmiki Temple on East Coast Road; and Mariamman Koil on Third Avenue, Ashok Nagar.
Reason: Devotees thronging the temples are hampering the smooth flow of traffic on festival days.
Question : There are ’n’ number of Mosques across the country which blocks the roads every Friday. Muslims performing Namaz on roads outside over crowded mosques is quite common in many Indian cities. Will any court orders demolition of a mosque for the smooth flow of traffic on Friday afternoons?   Â
