LUCKNOW: Andhra Pradesh police, along with Thakurganj police, on Sunday, arrested a 27-year-old [Muslim] engineer, who had been blackmailing a [Hindu] girl living in Hyderabad, after becoming friendly with her through internet.
The B Tech youth was identified as Shoaib Khan, a resident of New Tilak Nagar locality under Bakshi-Ka-Talab police station area.
It was about a few months back that Shoaib had entered into a friendship with a [Hindu] girl of Meerut, employed in Hyderabad of Andhra Pradesh, through internet. Their friendship blossomed to the extent that both even started having video chats and exchanging photographs.
Shoaib then [sexually] morphed the [Hindu] girl’s photograph and started blackmailing her by threatening to make her [sexually explicit] pictures public. Next, he started demanding Rs 30,000 in exchange of not making the photographs public. Under pressure from Shoaib, the [Hindu] girl even transferred Rs 10,000 into the account of the accused. However, Shoaib did not relent even then and continued blackmailing her.
Unable to convince Shoaib, the [Hindu] girl lodged an FIR with Cyber Crime police station in Hyderabad about a fortnight back. After receiving the complaint, Andhra Pradesh police traced Shoaib’s whereabouts to his residence under Bazaarkhala police station area.
It was on Sunday that a police team from Andhra Pradesh led by inspector Bhaskar, along with Bazaarkhala police, nabbed Shoaib and booked him under various sections of the Cyber Crime Act and blackmailing.
