ABVP National Conference kicks off in Bangalore
BANGALORE: Thousands of students from various parts of the country thronged the city as the National Conference of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) kick started on Saturday.”In its 56th edition, this is our biggest conference ever. There are about 10,000 student participating with about 1,000 girls from the country and from Nepal,” said ABVP National President Milind S Marathe. “As many as 60 students from the neighbouring nation are participating at the conference.”The dayone of the conference showcased a picture exhibition of the work done by ABVP activists and an awareness messages to the members and the general public.
This was followed by flag hoisting and a chorus recital of Vande Mataram. Synchronised to perfection, the voices of hundreds of students reverberated the sense of national pride and patriotism.High on the agenda of the fourday conference are deliberations on Naxalism, terrorism, educational reforms and corruption.”There is great disparity between the fee structures in government educational institutes of all states of the country. It hurts students from economicallyweaker sections very badly,” said ABVP National Secretary N Ravikumar. “We will take a resolution about the issue.
Resolutions against Naxalism, terrorism and debates on foreign universities entering the country will also be taken.”For the first time, the meet will also discuss on eight course disciplines.”We are going to submit a memorandum to the state and the Centre,” said Marathe. “We will also demand hostel facilities in government educational institutes, as per the Supreme Court statute.”Delegates from Nepal, Mauritius, Singapore and Malaysia, among a few other foreign countries, are also attending the event.
